These are a huge crowd-pleaser for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, or Labor Day. Dipping them in melted chocolate adds a rich contrast to the gooey, crispy treat, and the sprinkles give them that perfect festive pop.

Prep time: 15 minutes
-
Cooling time: 30 minutes
-
Yield: 12–16 squares
Ingredients
-
3 tbsp unsalted butter
-
1 pkg (10 oz) large marshmallows (or about 5-6 cups of mini marshmallows)
-
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
-
1 lb bag of milk, white, or dark coating chocolate available at Jane's
-
1 tbsp Paramount Crystals (solid shortening designed for chocolate)
-
¼ cup Red, white, and blue sprinkles
Instructions
-
Prep the Pan: Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a little overhang on the sides so you can easily lift the treats out later.
-
Melt and Mix: In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
-
Add the Cereal: Immediately stir in the Rice Krispies cereal until well coated with the marshmallow mixture.
-
Press Gently: Transfer the mixture into your prepared pan. Using a piece of wax paper or a greased spatula, gently press the treats into an even layer.
Pro-Tip: Don't pack them down too hard, or your treats will turn out dense and tough instead of light and crispy!
-
Cool and Cut: Let them cool for about 20–30 minutes at room temperature until firm, then lift them out using the parchment paper and cut them into squares or rectangles.
-
Melt the Chocolate: Put your chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. in 30, 20, and 15 second spurts to avoid burning the chocolate. Add Paramount Crystals as needed due to thickness. Our melting chocolate is designed to form a shell and give you that glossy look.
-
Dip and Decorate: Dip each treat halfway into the melted chocolate. Shake off any excess, place them back on the parchment paper, and immediately top with the red, white, and blue sprinkles before the chocolate sets.
Let the chocolate harden in the fridge for up to 15 minutes.
Fun Variations
-
White Chocolate Canvas: Use white coating chocolate for dipping—the red, white, and blue sprinkles will pop beautifully against the stark white background.
-
The Drizzle Method: Instead of dipping, spread a layer of chocolate over the entire top of the pan of treats, add sprinkles, and then cut them. Or, drizzle with colored coating chocolate (use only oil-based candy colors--available at Jane's).
-
Treat Pops: Insert a popsicle stick or paper straw into the bottom of each treat before dipping to make them easier (and cleaner) for kids to eat.
